The purpose of this section is to
introduce the Notary Public to documents that appear to be incomplete.
Upon completion of this section, you will be
able to describe:
(1) Facts about incomplete documents
(2) What to do if a signer hands you an incomplete document
Notarization of Incomplete Documents
A notary public may not notarize an incomplete document. If the notary public knows from personal knowledge that the document is incomplete or is without a doubt on its face incomplete, the notary public must refuse to notarize the document. (Government Code Section 8205) (KS62-GC8205)
