Chapter 8: |

Example: Tracy Reed of Elk Grove, CA would like to transfer her property out of her name and into her son’s name. Tracy took the form that she needed to do the transfer to a notary public. Remember, the notary public cannot give advice to Tracy; therefore, Tracy is required to know which form SHE needs to take to the notary public. The notary public, on the other hand, is required to know which form (S)HE will need to fill-out and attach to the form that Tracy brings in. There are two forms in which the notary public can use. The notary public will use either an acknowledgment or a Jurat. (Note: You will learn the correct forms to use later). Below is an example of an acknowledgment which is attached to a quit claim deed. (Note: some forms do not have acknowledgments included. In this case, the notary public will need to fill-out an acknowledgment and staple (affix) it to the form that the signer brings in.)
